Reinforcing the importance of effective leadership in shaping the future success of the global staffing industry, this month’s SIA Executive Forum in San Diego boasted a packed agenda of provocative keynote speakers.

Of particular interest was the expert master class from employee engagement expert, Kevin Sheridan, who discussed the management of remote workers. Based on years of scholarly research and practical consulting, Sheridan talked about how the “Virtual Manager” can build a highly productive and motivated team through offering incentives and making a special effort to ensure remote workers feel part of the same team.

This particular topic resonated following the publication of my article series on The Staffing Stream which examines the rise of the gig economy and how businesses can successfully navigate this new world of work.

Another standout session came from professor of management and strategy at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and former CEO of Baxter, Harry Kraemer, whose keynote discussion From Values to Action examined how leaders can help people fulfil their full potential and successfully go on to become leaders themselves.

SIA’s Executive Forum continues to provide an opportunity to gain real insight and valuable statistics on the global staffing industry, which is integral for Capital GES as one of the world’s most trusted partners for employment solutions. We are looking forward to attending the next SIA event in September on Collaboration in the Gig Economy in Dallas, Texas and hope to see you there.
